Business Solutions - Teams

Team work or is it teamwork ?
In high school, my first wrestling coach gas us a lecture on teamwork. He explained how most people view wrestling as an individual sport but then, he explained how wrestling was a team sport. He told us how the teams are scored per match and how each match helps the school's score. Later, he added in what each letter of the word T.E.A.M. Meant.

T - together
E - everyone
A - accomplishes
M - more

In today's business world, so many bosses train and lecture their employees on how they are a part of a team with other staffers and with the owners. Meanwhile, many owners fall short of their own definition. In that, the contradiction usually creates an uneasiness amongst the team. The uneasiness usually then creates an "us & them" atmosphere which translates into "every man for him self".
In the end, employees that feel unappreciated don't work as hard and as a result the owners do not reap the profits that they could. In addition, the employees are also more likely to move onto the "next best thing" when the opportunity presents itself.
Finally, as owners, managers, or as employees be honest with the staff. Do your part! Take ownership! Don't forget to say please and thank you. Reward the employees for all of their hard work.
Be a team!
